You're supposed to go to Wikipedia, look up your birthday and list notable events for that day: three notable events, two celebrity birthdays, and one celebrity death:

My birthday is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower and is known as the Glorious Twelfth in the UK (but it's not so glorious for the grouse who are targets).

1898 - A not so happy day for the kingdom of Hawai'i: The Hawai'ian flag is lowered from Iolani Palace in an elaborate annexation ceremony and replaced with the American flag to signify the transfer of sovereignty from the Republic of Hawai'i to the United States. The Queen was deposed in 1893, but it took five years for the US to make it a territory.

1960 - Echo I, the first communications satellite, launched

1990 - Sue, the most complete skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex, was discovered near Faith, South Dakota.

Birthdays:
1880 - Radclyffe Hall, British author (d. 1943)
1887 - Erwin Schrödinger, Austrian physicist, Nobel Prize laureate (d. 1961)

Death:
1955 - James B. Sumner, American chemist, Nobel Prize laureate (b. 1887)
