Review: Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire
Sep. 1st, 2009 08:35 pmI've been looking forward to reading this for a while, and it's been fun reading
seanan_mcguire's anticipation of her book release on my flist. It's actually been a virtual poingfest, and the enthusiasm is infectious.
Needless to say, I got sucked into the book big time, and definitely enjoyed Toby Daye's adventure. McGuire manages to blend noir with urban fantasy skillfully. Also, as a Bay Area native, I pay attention to books set here to see if the details ring true. I do have one minor nit to pick about this, and if you've gone grocery shopping in San Francisco lately, you'll probably catch it too.
And, the preview of the next book has Toby heading down to my fair city (one of the most boring places in California according to Toby, bwahahah). I can't wait to see how McGuire manages to spice up Faerie and mundane life in southern Alameda County.
